Event viewer 6008 vista

Since installing SP1 on Vista Ultimate my machine experiences an event unexpected shutdown nearly every day. I have a Dell Optiplex GX It was fine and stable pre-SP1 for several months. I have tried reinstalling the video driver to no effect. I have disabled all power down, low power, sleep, etc. No effect. Its especially irritating because I have a wide screen monitor and the reboot, of course, cannot detect it when the kvm is switched to another machine so it keeps screwing up my desktop and changing screen resolution.

The Intel graphics driver wont let me select "exotic" screen resolutions so I am forced to reboot again, with the kvm switched to the vista machine to restore my desktop and screen resolution. Any suggestions to fix this, or gather more info to help identify the problem would be useful. I did check out intels site and they have a slightly newer driver but it wont install on this machine. Dell has nothing useful since they don't support Vista on this hardware. I have a similar issue.

I have now had 3 unexpected shutdowns event , all while the machine was unattended. I have a Dell running Vista Home Premium. If you have any concerns, please let us know. Was this reply helpful?
